Celebrating 150 Years of Takin' Care of Business
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our 150th Anniversary!
The Mankato Board of Trade held their very first meeting with 43 businessmen in attendance at 7:30 pm on Friday, August 28th, 1868. At that meeting, John Henry Barr was chosen to be the chair of the Mankato Board of Trade. Their vision and hope was to support and connect businesses to help the community grow and flourish. That support has continued throughout the years, and that forward-thinking group that began 150 years ago is known today as Greater Mankato Growth.
To celebrate takin’ care of business for 150 years, and to honor the local businesses and community leaders that have supported and upheld our thriving marketplace for a century-and-a-half, Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. will host a Sesquicentennial Celebration on Tuesday, October 2nd from 4 – 8 pm at the Mankato Brewery as they kick off their annual Tuesdays on Tap in collaboration with Radio Mankato.
The event will feature a special nano batch called “150th Annivers-Cherry” which will be the Kato Lager base, infused with a black cherry cheesecake flavor. Attendees will be eligible to win prizes, purchase fare from local food trucks and sample the nano batch. Live music will be provided by Mitch Gordon & the Unleaded Band. Additionally, the first 150 people through the door will receive a commemorative pint glass.
The public is encouraged to visit the Blue Earth County Historical Society and check out the pop-up exhibit celebrating 150 years of Takin’ Care of Business.
