2014 Talent Supply & Demand Report Released

Mankato, MN (October 2, 2014) – Greater Mankato Growth is pleased to announce the release of the 2014 Greater Mankato Talent Supply & Demand Report. This report is an update to the original report released in 2012.

The goal of the report is to showcase the total supply of talent that have completed advanced education beyond high school in the region compared to the business demands for those occupational categories that most closely align. The report then works as a tool for matching our talent to our current and future business needs, developing and attracting talent in areas where we have a shortage, attracting businesses in areas where we have a surplus of talent and analyzing the anticipated employer demand against our talent supply to identify opportunities for increased business and talent development.

Key findings from the report indicate that for job seekers, the highest potential for employment in Greater Mankato lies within the career fields of engineering, manufacturing and technology. The biggest opportunities for businesses to locate in the region to capitalize on the surplus of talent lies in the human services and business, management and administration fields.

“This report is a unique tool that not only is valuable to businesses and job seekers alike but also can be utilized by educators and site selection professionals to help locate businesses where they have the talent stream they require” said Trudie Gustafson, vice president of Greater Mankato Growth, Inc..

The talent supply and demand study and related data is unique to our region and was created through the collaborative efforts of Greater Mankato Growth working together with the five regional higher education institutions: Bethany Lutheran College, Gustavus Adolphus College, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Rasmussen College and South Central College; as well as the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and the South Central Workforce Council.
