2018 Mankato Marathon Charities Program Seeks New Benefactors

MANKATO, Minn.—The Mankato Marathon is seeking three new benefactors to round out the 2018 Charities Program.

Interested local charities can find an application at mankatomarathon.com/charities/charities. Applications are due December 15.

Through the Mankato Marathon Charities Program, five chosen qualifying 501(c)(3) charities must recruit four Champion Runners will fundraise on its behalf and run in either the full marathon or the half marathon. To receive a free registration, each Champion Runner must raise a minimum of $500 for his or her respective charity. In 2017, the Mankato Marathon Charity Program raised nearly $23,000 for its five chosen local charities.

In addition to the Champion Runners’ efforts, the Mankato Marathon helps raise additional donations by allowing runners to make donations through online and paper registrations. Charities can benefit through media and website exposure and other promotional mentions provided by the Mankato Marathon.

The charity’s application will be reviewed by a selection committee, and the charities will be selected and announced prior to race registration opening January 1, 2018.

The two returning charities from 2017 are Open Door Health Center and Project for Teens.

On October 21-22, 2017 Visit Mankato and Final Stretch will host the eighth annual Mankato Marathon.
