Abusive Disability Lawsuit Bill Passes House and Senate
Mankato, MINN (May 9, 2017) – Jonathan Zierdt, President & CEO of Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. released the following statement on the votes of the Minnesota Senate yesterday and the Minnesota House last week to advance legislation that would help curb the abusive disability lawsuits we’ve seen impact our community.
“On behalf of Greater Mankato Growth, I want to express my gratitude to both the Minnesota House and Senate for their strong bipartisan support for HF 1542, which would help prevent the more than 70 abusive disability lawsuits that we’ve seen targeting small businesses in our region. This is a top priority for Greater Mankato Growth and our business community and I want to thank our local delegation of Representatives and Senators for the unanimous votes of support they provided for this important legislation. I especially want to thank Senator Nick Frentz for the leadership role he’s played in the Senate in working to find a compromise that is effective and meets the needs of all stakeholders. I urge the Legislature to resolve the minor differences between their bills and the Governor to sign this important measure into law this year to help improve access to our businesses for all customers.”
