The inaugural South Central Minnesota Workforce Summit will take place on Tuesday, May 20, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, MN. Hosted by Greater Mankato Growth in partnership with the Region Nine Development Commission and presented by Minnesota State University, Mankato, this full-day conference aims to address regional workforce challenge and opportunities.

The event is designed for a diverse audience committed to strengthening the regional workforce. This includes HR professionals focused on recruitment, retention, and workplace culture, business leaders and employers looking to build and retain strong teams, community leaders engaged in addressing workforce challenges and opportunities, and more.

Scholarships are available through the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development’s Drive for Five Program. Attendees may apply for a 50% reduction of the registration fee.

Jimmi Langemo is an experienced leader in building inclusive, welcoming workplaces across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He began his journey in 2004 as Best Buy’s first director focused on workplace inclusion, where he developed nationally recognized leadership programs, launched company-wide employee groups, and introduced training on gender identity awareness. Since then, Jimmi has consulted for a wide range of organizations, helping them create respectful, people-centered cultures. In addition to his consulting work, he’s held executive roles like Chief Administrative Officer at Hennepin Theatre Trust and now serves as Director of Equity and Human Resources for the City of Brooklyn Center. Outside of his professional work, Jimmi is also a talented musician and leads the blues band Jimmi and the Band of Souls, whose music has earned state and national recognition.
