SUMMARY:Indigenous Music Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Minnesota Original Music Festival presents the third installment of our music exchange series. \nJoin us outside on the patio at tremendous brewing for an afternoon of music and the stories behind the music with our indigenous artists: \nThe Pretendians (alternative rock) Didds (hip-hop)All too often Indigenous art and music are viewed as historical artifacts rather than contemporary Epresentations of what it means to be Native. This series seeks to build bridges and connections across communities by using the common language of art and music. \nPretendians Band is a Native American rock band from Minnesota. Since 2014 the group has made a name for themselves by infusing their music with a modern indigenous perspective\, crafting a dynamic brand of rock music. \nWith a rapidly growing fan base and a reputation for live performances\, Pretendians Band’s music is a testament to the resilience\, creativity\, and power of indigenous people\, and a reminder that the spirit of rock and roll has zero boundaries. \nDidds (Breanna Eaglefeather) is an Indigenous rapper/songwriter out of the Twin Cities who beautifully blends native and hip hop culture to represent unity and community. \nthis event is made for all ages and is open and free to the public. \nmany thanks to Tremendous Brewing and the St. Peter Food Co-op for contributions and support of this event. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. \nThis program is made possible with funds provided by the St. Peter Tourism and Visitors Bureau.
