First Annual Let it Glow, Kato! Window Display Contest Coming to the City Center

MANKATO, Minn. (October 29, 2020) - This holiday season, the City Center Partnership is sponsoring the first annual Let It Glow, Kato! Window Display Contest. City Center businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows with festive holiday displays for all to enjoy.

The competition will include People’s Choice for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with cash prizes ranging from $250 to $1,000 and what is sure to become a coveted traveling trophy. Online voting will start with the Shop Small event on November 20th and go through midnight, January 3.

Anna Thill, president at Visit Mankato, shared that, “This fun and festive competition has a serious strategy behind it, which is to bring visitors and residents to the City Center to help boost business. Many of the businesses in the City Center are small and locally owned. They are especially vulnerable this year so we are doing what we can to help them survive and hopefully thrive. We are also hoping this extends the holiday lights efforts desired throughout the community.”

The City Center Partnership is offering mini grants in the form of $100 Visa gift cards to help offset the cost of buying new decorations. Businesses interested in participating can register online until Friday, November 13.
