GMG's Zierdt Releases Response to Hwy 14 announcement

Jonathan Zierdt, President& CEO of Greater Mankato Growth, issued the following statement today in response to the announcement that three Highway 14 projects were among the finalists selected for Corridors of Commerce funding.

“Today’s announcement by Governor Dayton and the Minnesota Department of Transportation recognizes that Highway 14 is a critical “Corridor of Commerce” that connects southern Minnesota’s regional trade centers and supports their continued economic vitality. The inclusion of these three projects is a major step forward to transforming Highway 14 into a consistent four-lane corridor that better serves the countless businesses and individuals that rely on it for the movement of goods, as well as themselves and their families. As Greater Mankato continues to lead the state in a variety of economic growth measures, the need for this community to efficiently and safely move goods and individuals out of, and into, this market and across our entire region has never been more important. On behalf of Greater Mankato Growth, I want to thank Governor Dayton and MnDOT for their leadership and for recognizing the importance of Highway 14 to not just the continued vitality of our region, but its importance to our state’s economy. I also want to recognize the businesses, local governments, and citizens from all along the Highway 14 corridor for their persistence and unwavering support for investment in this critical project.”
