Greater Mankato Growth and South Central College release Statements on Minnesota Medical Manufacturing Partnership
(July 9, 2015) The announcement Wednesday by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce that Minnesota's Medical Manufacturing Partnership is one of 12 communities nationwide selected has a major local impact. The designation means the partnership - which includes Greater Mankato Growth and South Central College - is now eligible for federal aid and support to accelerate manufacturing growth and create jobs.
Jonathan Zierdt, president & CEO of Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. in a statement said “While not always apparent, Greater Mankato is home to a multitude of firms and manufacturers that are key providers of inputs and supply chain materials in the medical manufacturing industry. While some of the big brands and companies may be located in the metro, many of those products and parts are produced right here in our marketplace.”
“This is yet another example of the collaborative spirit that makes our region so strong,” said Dr. Annette Parker, President of South Central College also in a statement. “I want to thank Marsha Danielson at South Central College and the professionals at Greater Mankato Growth for their diligent efforts to move this designation forward. Health care and medical device manufacturing are both significant industries in our region and program areas at our college, we are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring to our students, businesses and communities.”
