Greater Mankato Growth Elects New Board Members, Awards First Distinguished Service Award
MANKATO, Minn. (April 2, 2015) – Today, the Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. (GMG) Board of Directors appointed two new candidates to fill pending open midterm seats.
Dr. Richard Davenport, President of Minnesota State University was appointed to fill the term Dr. Dan Bruss, President of Bethany Lutheran College will vacate effective June 2, 2015. Dr. Davenport will continue to represent the education industry sector on the board as Dr. Bruss did and will serve through March, 2017.
Jennifer Spaude, Director of Corporate Communications at Enventis was appointed to fill the term currently being served by Jim Santori of The Free Press who officially retired from the board today. Spaude represents the at-large sector of business Santori represented and her term will run through March, 2017.
Santori was also presented today with the first ever Distinguished Service Award by the Chair of the Board of Directors, Todd Loosbrock. The award was created to recognize a board member who has demonstrated superb formal and informal leadership, spectrum and breadth of impact (across the organization) and longevity of service.
Santori has served on the Greater Mankato Growth Board of Directors since its inception in 2007 (serving on its executive team from 2009-13) and previously served on the Greater Mankato Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC) Board of Directors prior to the merger of GMEDC with the Mankato Area Chamber of Commerce in 2007 to form Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. He has also served as the Chair of GMG’s Public Affairs Steering Committee, moderated candidate forums, served on the planning committee for Greater Mankato at the Capitol, been a member of the ICLV planning committee, was an original founder and continued supporter of greatermankatoevents.com, served as a Visit Mankato Board Member (2009-2015) and volunteered on the Post Office Reuse Taskforce for the City Center Partnership.
