Greater Mankato Growth Holds First Southern Minnesota Economic Summit
(February 27, 2014) MANKATO, MINN. - Greater Mankato Growth will convene the first Southern Minnesota Economic Summit, April 29 – 30, at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato. The summit will bring together a diverse audience of attendees including business owners, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, manufacturers and economic development professionals.
“The idea of holding an economic summit in Greater Mankato has been a goal for many stakeholders across southern Minnesota as well as Greater Mankato Growth for several years,” said Jonathan Zierdt President & CEO of Greater Mankato Growth. “We are elated to make this prospect a reality by holding the first economic summit in the region that appeals to everyone, from the small business owner to the corporate CEO.”
Attendees can choose which of four breakout session tracks to follow: Entrepreneurial Bridge (brought to you by Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF)), Growing Your Business, Business Leadership and Alignment of Talent & Workforce.
The event also features four keynote speakers:

· Dr. Laura Kalambokidis, State of Minnesota Economist, University of Minnesota
· Toby Madden, Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
· Liz Nead, Nead Inspiration
The summit will have a unique business-to-business environment with the seasoned and experienced businessperson sharing their knowledge with those in a similar industry or with an entrepreneur just starting out.
As a result of the summit, attendees will achieve new business connections, insights gleaned from sharing and highlighting of best practices and a shared desire to grow the regional economy.
The summit is held in conjunction with the long-standing and popular event, the Southern Minnesota Business Showcase.
