Greater Mankato Growth President & CEO to Speak at bushCONNECT

Mankato, MINN (May 9, 2014) – Jonathan Zierdt, President & CEO of Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. (GMG) will be a panelist at the Policy and a Pint session hosted by the Citizens League during bushCONNECT on Monday, May 12. bushCONNECT is a regional leadership networking event powered by the Bush Foundation and created in partnership with nearly 30 organizations from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Zierdt will participate as one of three panelists during the special edition session of Policy and a Pint presented by the Citizens League and 89.3 The Current, entitled Small Town – Big Opportunity. The session will focus on how Greater Minnesota’s regional centers are turning the tide of migration to major metros by leveraging their positive attributes to change the conversation from one of survival to one of thriving in an intense global competition for jobs, livability and vitality.

Other panelists include Mayor Don Ness of Duluth, Minnesota and Brian Myres CEO and Chief Innovation Officer of Myres Consulting in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Zierdt’s invitation to participate in this event came from awareness created at the state level with the release of Greater Mankato Growth’s community promotional video in March, The Way to Grow. From here, the Citizens League researched more about GMG and ultimately extended an invitation to Zierdt as a result of their intrigue and interest in Greater Mankato’s unique, integrated and cohesive business development organizational model. “This is testimony that Greater Mankato is getting noticed and raising the visibility of our marketplace” said Zierdt. “It’s an honor to be invited to share the innovative strategies and unique characteristics that Greater Mankato has leveraged to position itself as a premier destination for businesses and individuals alike to grow and prosper.”

This session will be broadcast live on the web via Uptake on Monday, May 12 from 2:10 – 3:10 pm. You can find the broadcast at: http://bfdn.org/bushCONlive. Nearly 1,000 people are expected to attend the event held in Minneapolis at the Guthrie Theatre.
