Greater Mankato Young Professionals to host unique Ag Business event August 27

Mankato, MINN. (August 25, 2015) The Impact of Ag Business in Greater Mankato event will engage the Greater Mankato Growth Young Professionals (YPs), a group of more than 170 individuals, in a conversation and tour on what goes into modern agriculture. From production to manufacturing, distribution, education and service providers, there is more than what traditionally comes to mind involved in agriculture. While the population on the world continues to grow, the importance of this industry whose job it is to feed it, won’t be slowing down anytime soon. This event will showcase the dynamic skills and jobs needed to sustain and grow the industry, with a special focus on the Greater Mankato region.

The YPs have participated in many business tours during the past several years but this will be the first to take them on-site to a farm. “Two of the presenters are active members of the YP program and are very excited to showcase the impact ag has on the community,” said Shannon Gullickson, Greater Mankato Growth Talent Programs Director.

YP Chairperson Nathan Hanel said “Being raised on a farm myself, I am excited for this opportunity to discuss Greater Mankato’s agricultural foundation and what it means as a young professional in today’s business world.”

The event will be held on Thursday, August 27 at Guentzel Family Farms, 32172 490th Street, Mankato near the Mankato Airport from 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and the agenda is as follows:

  • “Livestock Production in the 21st Century” Brent Krohn of B&B Krohn Farms, Nicollet, MN
