GreenSeam to host "The Truth About Food" Forum
Mankato, MINN (October 30, 2018) – GreenSeam is excited to host the 36th annual Rural Legislative Forum – The Truth About Food, on December 6th, 2018 at the Verizon Center in Mankato, Minnesota. This premier annual reception and dinner event joins key public leaders with a wide-range of attendees from the agriculture sector – from producers, to manufacturing, to professional services, to education and research – in candid conversations about key issues facing the rural economy and potential solutions.
The Master of Ceremonies will be Chip Flory, host of Farm Journal’s two daily radio talk shows: AgriTalk and AgriTalk After the Bell. Chip joined Pro Farmer as a floor reporter for Futures World News in January 1988. He has reported directly from the floors of the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as Bureau Chief for FWN. He moved to the Pro Farmer headquarters in 1991 where he is the Editorial Director.
Keynote speaker, Harry Stine, CEO of Stine Seed Company was raised on his family’s property in Dallas County, Iowa and in 1964 he joined his father’s soybean cleaning business in Adel, Iowa. Harry’s interest in research and seed breeding started when he found some unusual soybean plants in one of the company fields. He saw the value and profit opportunities that breeding, developing and growing newer, higher-yielding soybean varieties would have for his company and farmers.
We have invited USDA Secretary of Ag, Sonny Perdue. We hope to hear an update on the Agriculture and Rural Prosperity and the Administration’s efforts more broadly to change policies, regulations and laws that will bolster the agriculture industry and rural economy.
“It would be terrific to see a variety of attendees, from business and community leaders to our youth and students. This event is a great opportunity for those who want to learn more and engage in this important discussion,” said Sam Ziegler, Director of GreenSeam.
Kent Thesse, Senior Vice President of MinnStar Bank said, “The Rural Legislative Forum has a long and rich history of focusing on key policy topics, as well as connecting community leaders with their elected officials to discuss issues affecting our farms and local communities.”
