Jobs Gained in Mankato - North Mankato MSA
Mankato, MINN (December 15, 2016) – The Mankato – North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) continued to outpace 2015 job figures in November. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development released the November 2016 employment figures for the MSA today. The MSA saw a slight increase from November of 2015, up 0.4% or 214 jobs this year.
All sectors seem to be following seasonal trends. Goods Producing (Manufacturing) remained relatively flat from October (down 27 jobs). Public sector employment ticked slightly upward with an increase of 39 jobs from the previous month. Service Providing jobs has always declined -0.9% on average from October to November for the last 6 years. This year it declined -0.7% or 349 jobs.
The MSA has typically seen a very strong 4th quarter and 2016 continues to follow that trend. Both October and November are up .4% from 2015. From January to November of 2016, the average employment has been 56,297, up 539 jobs from the 2015 average of 55,758.
