REDA is made up of the Mankato-North Mankato MSA (Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties), as well as the city of Le Sueur.

Population Forecasting

Within 45 minutes of the urban core, the population of the Greater Mankato labor shed is over 200,000 and covers 10 counties thanks to efficient commuting routes and the regional pull of major employers. By 2045 it’s projected to grow to over 225,000.

Commuting and Drive Times

The map below shows 30, 45, and 60 minute commuting times for employees coming into the urban core of Greater Mankato.  At 60 minutes, the labor shed for the greater Mankato marketplace spans across 16 counties. The 4-lane divided highway system provides excellent connectivity for the population of over 381,000 and a labor force of more than 250,000 (ages 15 - 64).
