Mankato Marathon Looking for 2017 Charity Benefactors

MANKATO, Minn.—In 2016, the Mankato Marathon Charity Program raised nearly $31,000 for local charities. In 2017, the Mankato Marathon is again looking to include five charities. Applications for interested charities are now online at mankatomarathon.com/charity/2017-charities/. Applications are due by December 28, 2016.

Through the Charity Program, five qualifying 501(c)(3) charities will be chosen to participate as Mankato Marathon Charities. Chosen Charities must recruit four Champion Runners who will fundraise on its behalf and run in either the Full Marathon or the Half Marathon. In order for Champion Runners to receive a free registration, they must raise a minimum of $500 for their charity.

In addition to the Champion Runner efforts, the Mankato Marathon will help raise donations for the selected charities by allowing runners to make donations through registrations, both online and on paper registration forms. Charities can benefit through exposure via media, website and other promotional mentions provided by the Mankato Marathon.

Applications for the Mankato Marathon Charities Program are due December 28, 2016. The application will be reviewed by a selection committee and charities will be selected by December 29. The Mankato Marathon looks forward to working with the new Champion Runners to help them meet their goals.
