Mankato Ranked in Top Third Percentile in the State for Population Growth

Mankato, MINN (May 22, 2015) – The United States Census Bureau released the 2014 city population estimates today. Of the 50 largest communities in Minnesota, the city of Mankato was ranked 17th  in population growth, placing the city in the top third percentile in the state. Additionally, Mankato is the 2nd fastest growing on the list of 50 largest communities in Greater Minnesota. 

The cities of Mankato and North Mankato experienced a 1.04% and .25% growth respectively from 2013 to 2014, ranking the cities as 21st and 76th largest on a list of 853 incorporated places.

Highlights of the Greater Mankato region from the data include:

  • Eagle Lake, Minnesota is the 5th fastest growing community in the state among 853 incorporated places.
  • Saint Peter, Minnesota was ranked 47th overall in growth out of the 853 incorporated places, with a population of 11,570 in 2014.
  • Blue Earth County grew by .85% or 550 people ranking it 12th out of 87 counties in Minnesota.
