Manufacturing remains strong in Greater Mankato. In addition to being our region’s largest industry sector, the area’s manufacturing might is also powered by industry diversification. There are also specific industry clusters that can benefit manufactures on the supply side. Throughout the past several years, primary economy goods producers have continued to build and expand in Greater Mankato.
South Central MN Manufacturing Fast Facts:
- Manufacturing was the largest employment sector in South Central Minnesota, as of second quarter 2010
- The average weekly wages in manufacturing were 13.9 percent higher than average weekly wages for all industries in South Central Minnesota ($786, compared to $690)
- Total job vacancies in the region were down 21.6 percent over the year during second quarter 2010, and 45.7 percent since second quarter 2007
