BARK.L Consulting Engineers is now Abacus Engineering

Mankato, MN – BARK.L Consulting Engineers (BARK.L) officially launched its new brand name Abacus Engineering. Since its founding over six years ago, the mechanical and electrical engineering company has grown to three locations: Mankato, Rochester, and Minneapolis. Also growing is the staff and services offered by the company. With these changes, Kaeko Leitch, President and Principal Engineer, decided to rename the company after the abacus to better represent the companies values. The abacus is a historical device that symbolizes the fundamentals of engineering, representing precision, intuition, and consistency.

The abacus also has a personal meaning to Leitch. In 1899, Leitch’s great-great-great uncle, Hatsune Nakano, was the first person in Japan to receive a doctorate in engineering and served as President of the Society of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Nakano is recognized as one of the pioneers in Japan’s electricity industry. What was his primary tool for solving his engineering calculations? The abacus.

While modern technology has changed, the main principles of engineering remain the same. Like the device it is named after, Abacus Engineering is straight forward, sturdy and dependable. And that will never change.
