KEYC News 12 Announces Morning Newscast Expansion

KEYC News 12

For Immediate Release

February  5, 2019 - KEYC News 12 announced plans today for an additional half hour of local news and weather each weekday morning.

Following the successful first year of “KEYC News 12 This Morning” from 6 to 7 am, “KEYC News 12 This Morning” will now air live weekdays from 5:30 to 7 am and will continue to be anchored by Lisa Cownie, Kelsey Barchenger and Meteorologist Tom Clements.

News Director Mitch Keegan said, “Mornings are an important time of the day for people to learn about the day ahead of them as they get ready.  Having an extra half hour of local news and weather will be even more beneficial.”

KEYC News 12 knows the weather is a key part of any newscast and has invested in the newest weather forecasting technology.  Combined with the station’s network of HD skycams, viewers will know how the constantly changing weather of the region will impact their day.

With the addition of the half hour, KEYC News 12 will present more than 24 hours of local news, weather and sports each week.

“KEYC News 12 This Morning” was launched on January 15, 2018, and is followed by “CBS This Morning” anchored by Norah O’Donnell, Gayle King, John Dickerson and Bianna Golodryga from 7 to 9 am.

KEYC News 12, a CBS and FOX Affiliate serving southern Minnesota and northern Iowa since 1960, is part of family-owned United Communications Corporation based in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
