Looking for Artists

Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota

MANKATO, MN – Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota is looking for sponsors and artists to contribute to the 7th annual “Home Tweet Home” fundraiser. The event will be held in Spring 2016. The Home Tweet Home event includes a silent auction featuring unique hand painted birdhouses, bird feeders, and garden accessories combined with a food and wine tasting.

“Please join us in sponsoring and helping us with this exciting event. With your help, families in our community will be able to enjoy the dream of homeownership,” said Executive Director, Julie Schmillen.

We are looking for volunteers interested in building, designing and/or decorating birdhouses. The silent auction consists of birdhouse or garden accessories made by local artists. Each artist is donating his or her time and talent to create one-of-a-kind birdhouses, birdfeeders or garden accessories. All donations must be received by March 1st to be included in the event. Artists are needed that would like to donate a finished piece to the auction or artists can pick up a birdhouse to decorate at the Habitat office at 1751 Bassett Drive.

We are also looking for corporate sponsors to help support and fund this event. With a $500 sponsorship each of the businesses reaches the Gold Sponsorship level. The Gold Sponsorship level includes each businesses name and logo placement on all event marketing materials and recognition during the event. Along with other benefits as: each businesses logo in HFHSCMN’s annual report, 2 complimentary tickets to attend the event and publically thanked on our social media pages.

A $1,000 sponsorship will give the business a Platinum Sponsorship level. At the platinum level each business will receive all of the features of the gold level plus  each business receives recognition on our affiliate and ReStore websites for 1 year with a link, recognition in the event program and in all signage at the event and a possible mention in newspaper or magazine articles about the event.

Last year’s event attracted more than 250 people. The 2015 Home Tweet Home event raised more than $8,400. All funds raised are given toward Habitat’s mission of building simple, decent and affordable houses. Schmillen said, “To date we have built over 118 Habitat homes in the area.”

HFHSCMN is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable housing with and for low-income families in need.

About Habitat for Humanity

About Habitat for Humanity of South Central, MN
Habitat for Humanity of South Central, Minnesota has five partnering communities including Mankato,

St. Peter, Le Sueur, New Prague and Watonwan County. The affiliate started in Mankato and was granted official status on July 1st, 1990. At Habitat for Humanity, we don’t just build homes, we build relationships. Future homeowners work side-by-side to build our homes. Habitat builds homes with families who need affordable housing, demonstrate the ability to pay $500-$600 a month mortgage, and willingness to partner. Once an application is approved, the family works 200-400 construction hours toward the building of their own home, which is referred to as “sweat equity”. An approved family also attends monthly classes designed to prepare them for a lifetime of home ownership. For more information, or to donate or volunteer, visit habitat.org.
