Minnesota’s Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery Earns Top 100 Spirit Award As Seen in Wine Enthusiast Best of Year 2018

Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery

KASOTA, MN — (December 6, 2018) Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery set out to create the perfect drink for ‘sweater weather’ – the times when the temperature dips and we reach for a little warm up.  The result was North Forest Kreme, and industry tastemaker Wine Enthusiast magazine has just awarded the Pumpkin flavor to its “Top 100 Spirits of 2018” national honors.

North Forest Kreme Pumpkin, a cream liqueur flavored with pumpkin spice, received a score of 93 and Wine Enthusiast says “this easy-sipping liqueur pours out chocolate-milk brown with a sweet, spiced aroma.”  North Forest Kreme Liqueur comes in three varieties: Peppermint Kreme, Walnut Kreme, and the awarded Pumpkin Kreme and they can be found at 300-plus liquor and grocery stores throughout Minnesota.

“It’s an honor to have our North Forest Pumpkin Kreme recognized by Wine Enthusiast.  Our team has worked hard to expand this product nationally so this sincerely is a great sense of accomplishment,” said Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery owner and founder Kent Schwickert.

Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery winemaker Mike Drash, born and raised in Tennessee, has taken Chankaska beyond wine and currently, Chankaska is the only winery in Minnesota to hold a distilled spirits license. Mike uses a 500-liter hand-crafted copper Pot Still from the Carl Company in Germany to create the small-batch brandy that forms the basis of North Forest Kreme.  Mike then creates the custom recipes for each unique flavor profile. Established in 2008 on 25 acres outside Mankato, MN, Chankaska has quickly grown to be the second largest winery in Minnesota.

Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery is a cold-climate vineyard and winery located in the heart of the Minnesota River valley in Kasota, MN. The winery is home to an eleven-acre vineyard and a 12,000 square foot facility complete with state of the art equipment which allows for artisan winemaking techniques. The tasting room opened in May 2012. Chankaska Wines produced approximately 8,500 cases last year and projects close to 10,000 cases this year. Chankaska’s grounds also play host to many unique event venues for weddings, corporate functions, birthdays and other special events.
