Belle Plaine, MINNESOTA – November 16, 2016 –Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that a collaboration with high-capacity communications transport service provider Neutral Path Communications has led to the establishment of a new Point of Presence (PoP) within Neutral Path’s MSP1 facility. Located at 713 E Church Street, Belle Plaine, MN, this Point of Presence is Hurricane Electric’s second with Neutral Path and third in the state.
The carrier-neutral MSP1 facility provides customers with direct access to Neutral Path Communications’ dark fiber backbone and additional fiber interconnects to a variety of providers. The company’s underground backbone network spans over 1,300 route miles and over 110,000 fiber miles throughout the heart of the Midwest between key aggregation points in Denver, Omaha and Minneapolis. Because of this partnership, customers of Neutral Path Communications now haveaccess to Hurricane Electric’s robust IPv4 and IPv6 networks through100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. “We are excited to collaborate with Hurricane Electric and launch this new Point of Presence at our MSP1 facility,” said Tony Frentz, Chief Strategy Officer, Neutral Path Communications. “Customers at all eight of our Midwest data centers now have another location at which they can access and utilize high-speed bandwidth from Hurricane Electric. “We are delighted to again work with Neutral Path Communications on the latest phase of Hurricane Electric’s Midwestern expansion,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “The demand for high-speed global connectivity continues to increase throughout the United States; the MSP1 PoP is already our third in Minnesota and 15th overall in the Midwest.
