Pioneer Bank CEO Selected as National Conference Panelist

Pioneer Bank

September 29, 2021 (Mankato, MN) – Pioneer Bank CEO David Krause was named a presenting panelist for Community Banking in the 21st Century Research and Policy Conference held on September 28 and 29 co-sponsored by the Federal Reserve System, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC).  The annual conference, started in 2013, gives researchers, regulators, policymakers and community bankers a unique opportunity to debate and discuss the latest community banking research and share views on the opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

Krause was selected as the Community Bank discussant for the session on Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Lending. His selection was, in part, because of Pioneer Bank’s strong participation in the PPP. Pioneer Bank originated over 1,700 loans with proceeds totaling over $108 million, impacting more than 11,000 jobs during the program period in 2020 and 2021. The bank, with locations in Blue Earth, Nicollet and Watonwan counties, advanced more PPP funds to small businesses and farmers in each of those counties than any other lender. Their activity represented 57.1% of the $25 million in PPP loans proceeds advanced in Watonwan County, 18.7% of the $74 million in Nicollet County and 13.6% of the $230 million in Blue Earth County.

“We understood how important the PPP program would be to the businesses and farmers in our communities and acted quickly” said Krause. “The research presented during this conference reinforced the importance of the work Pioneer Bank and other community banks did to ensure jobs were saved and businesses could survive the economic uncertainty generated by the pandemic.”

The national conference was sponsored by the Federal Reserve System, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
