Connect the Grey Launches Rural Renaissance Project Nonprofit, Begins Three Sisters Redevelopment in Blue Earth
Rural Renaissance Project’s mission is to spark cultural, educational, and economic development through creative and entrepreneurial investment in rural communities.
Mankato, Minnesota, USA: Connect the Grey’s latest initiative, Rural Renaissance Project (RRP), launched as a new, Minnesota-based nonprofit to spark cultural, educational, and economic development through creative and entrepreneurial investment in rural communities.
The pilot site for RRP in Blue Earth, MN, will be anchored by the redevelopment of the “Three Sisters” buildings on Main Street, recently featured in the BBC News article, "The untold good news story of America today,” which highlighted the project and entrepreneurship in rural communities. Since publication, the article has had more than 1 million views worldwide.
Blue Earth City Council voted unanimously on Monday, July 2, to approve an ordinance authorizing the sale of the Three Sisters buildings, which have been vacant for more than a decade, to RRP per terms of a Development Agreement approved at the previous Council meeting on Monday, June 18, and executed on Friday, June 29.
Rural Renaissance Project launch party and Three Sisters capital campaign kickoff events are scheduled for July 13-14, 2018, during Blue Earth’s annual Giant Days celebration to begin raising the $1M needed to begin construction. Blue Earth Area alumni or other individuals, groups or businesses interested in supporting the project are encouraged to visit www.ruralren.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
