MANKATO, Minn. – YWCA Mankato will host the 7th annual Women’s Leadership Conference presented by ProGrowth Bank on Thursday, November 8, 2018, and Friday, November 9, 2018, at Verizon Center Grand Hall in Mankato. The theme of the conference is SHE LEADS and highlights talented local leaders and nationally renowned speakers.

This year’s conference will include several new features. For the first time ever, the conference will include breakout sessions, allowing conference attendees to select from six unique sessions covering three tracks: Leader Development, Skill-Building, and Changemaking. Breakout sessions leaders are local experts with topics ranging from “Leadership Growth Through Conflict” to “Make a Name for Yourself & Build Leadership Allies” and “Leading Change.”

The conference will also feature the always popular Women’s Expo, where attendees can make connections, network, meet local entrepreneurs and business owners, and shop their exclusive wares. In addition, there will be an Expert Panel discussing leadership topics relevant to women today and three keynote speakers to round out the conference.

Thursday evening will focus on the impact of women’s leadership. Attendees will also learn how to tap into the power of WIN/ WIN connections – complete with an interactive networking challenge activity – from networking expert and keynote speaker Teresa Thomas.

Opening the conference on Friday morning, Dr. Simone Ahuja addresses how women can challenge the status quo and work within larger systems or organizations to create change.  Dr. Ahuja is the founder of Blood Orange, an innovation and advisory firm working with Fortune 1000 companies, and is a contributing author to the Harvard Business Review.  After a full day of leadership development and interactive breakout sessions, Margi Simmons from the renowned Brave New Workshop – a well-respected improv and training troupe - will demonstrate how attendees can improv(e) their leadership mindset and communication.

Attendees of last year’s event said the following, “It's a jolt of inspiration -- providing a catalyst to create change”, “It has empowered me to keep working hard because what I do matters”, and “I attend almost every year and I always come away more inspired to lead my team. I am passionate about women's leadership and the conference helps me sharpen my focus on these issues.”
