MANKATO, Minn.—The My Bold Walk registration deadline has been extended to October 5.

“We are very excited to add this special, one-of-a-kind event to the Mankato Marathon weekend. My Bold Walk is for people who are not runners and even for people who have a hard time walking,” said Mark Bongers, CEO of Final Stretch, Inc. “The course is designed and supported to assist a wide variety of walkers. Come join us and be part of the Mankato Marathon weekend.”

All participants get a free t-shirt and medal to commemorate their unique achievement.

Registration is $20 and is limited to 200 participants. Family members and friends are encouraged to participate, too, but will need to register if they would like a shirt and medal.

My Bold Walk is a 0.6-mile course presented jointly by the Department of Human Performance at Minnesota State University, Mankato and Mayo Clinic Health System. It is a race for people who typically cannot participate in the many great walks, runs or races offered in our community because of a chronic disease or disability.

My Bold Walk is all about the participants and their journey. They decide how long they want to walk. The course is a 0.6-mile loop. They decide when to take a break; rest stations are provided every 300 feet and students from the Department of Human Performance are available to help participants on the walk. And they cross the finish line when they are ready.

My Bold Walk will be October 15. Start time is at 1:30 p.m. at the MSU-Mankato campus parking lot. The finish line will be in the same location as the start line.
