Public Affairs Strategy
As the Greater Mankato region has continued to evolve and grow, so has our need to let decision makers know about our marketplace's attributes and impact to the state. To this end, the Board of Directors of Greater Mankato Growth (GMG) has approved a plan to raise the region's profile among decision makers in St. Paul and throughout the state. The plan will require an additional $390,000 over the next three years, with $225,000 of the additional funding necessary coming from GMG's reserves and the remaining generated through new earned revenue. As part of the new plan, GMG will:
- Expand on its existing efforts to connect the business community with local and state leaders through surveys, issues dialogues and candidate forums, as well as awareness events, such as Greater Mankato Day at the Capitol
- Hire a Director of Government & Institutional Affairs, responsible for working with current area lawmakers, as well as communicating with legislators and other influential leaders throughout the state
