Seeking your voice to help create a vision for the future
Mankato, MINN (October 22, 2014) – Approximately 200 community members gathered at the Verizon Wireless Center last night to help shape the future of Greater Mankato. The Envision 2020 Community Celebration was a time to look back at what has been accomplished since the inception of the Community Vision plan in 2006 and look ahead to what should still be done to shape the future of our community.
All members of the community are encouraged to go online and take the Envision 2020 Community survey. This survey, along with information gathered at the event, will help to establish which strategic goals are considered most important to complete by the year 2020. The survey can be found on envision-2020.com and will be available until November 7.
The event included the video release of “Envision Tomorrow,” an overview of the process and timeline for phase 2 of the Envision 2020 plan and round table discussions helping to identify top priorities and goals of community members in attendance.
Those who were not able to attend can find all of the information given out at the event including the 2014 Progress Report, “Envision Tomorrow” video and community survey online at envision-2020.com.
Envision 2020 Background
Envision 2020 began in 2006, with a planning and visioning stage that included well over 400 citizens taking the time to engage in the important work of envisioning a desired future for the Greater Mankato region. Together, they organized a visionary plan into six Key Performance Areas and identified a total of 34 goals. Task forces were created to implement specific goals of the plan, with more than 200 generous volunteers participating in this implementation process thus far.
