Frank Volk started Volk Transfer in 1948 with only one tractor, and soon after that, built his first facility. In 1974, Richard \u201cRick\u201d Volk became President and continued to run the business until he passed away at an early age in March 1993. Carol Volk, wife of late Rick, took over the business in 1993, until 1997 when current owner and President\/CEO, Troy Volk took over and continues to own and operate Volk Transfer today. Over the last 75 years, Volk transfer has resided at three different addresses, and since 2011, is located at 2205 7th Avenue, Mankato. The current space features a large warehouse with over 30,000 square feet, with a 20,000 square foot addition in 2012, built to accommodate their solid customer base and storage\/shipping needs. Volk is a 4th Party Fulfillment (4PL) Division to provide a range of distribution, storage, transportation, and fulfillment needs to customers both locally, nationally, and internationally. As it stands today, Volk operates regionally, nationally, and globally with over 165 pieces of equipment, three offsite warehouse facilities, and seven different divisions: Logistics, Truckload, Less Than Truckload (LTL),), Expedited Services, Temp Controlled, and Warehouse\/Storage with Distribution and Fulfillment. In addition to the three offsite warehouses, Volk also has a North Mankato Warehouse, which gives them an additional 84,000 square feet to the existing 60,000 square feet at that facility.
