MANKATO \u2014 Grants totaling $150,000 recently were awarded to 22 nonprofits in the area by the Consolidated Communications Community Fund.<\/p>\n
The fund focuses support on local programs that meet critical community needs, such as hunger and homelessness, along with initiatives that provide opportunities for innovative education and learning.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Committee Against Domestic Abuse \u2014 $10,000 for direct assistance for victims.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Connections Ministry \u2014 $10,000 for shelter operations.<\/p>\n
\u2022 ECHO Food Shelf \u2014 $10,000 for dairy products for children.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Feeding Our Communities Partners \u2014 $10,000 for BackPack and Power Pack food programs.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Junior Achievement of Greater Mankato Area \u2014 $10,000 for the Entrepreneurial JA Company Program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Partners for Housing \u2014 $10,000 for the emergency shelter program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 South Central College \u2014 $10,000 for scholarships.<\/p>\n
\u2022 VINE \u2014 $10,000 for the PEARLS mental health initiative.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Educare Foundation \u2014 $7,500 for Ed Waltman mini-grants.<\/p>\n
\u2022 American Red Cross \u2014 $5,000 for disaster recovery services.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Children\u2019s Museum of Southern Minnesota \u2014 $5,000 for STEAM programming.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Goodwill \u2014 $5,000 for career exploration program that uses virtual reality.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Jonathan Zierdt Cancer Fund \u2014 $5,000 for the Caring Box Program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Lake Crystal Recreation Center \u2014 $5,000 for the Fit Kids program and Senior Lunch and Learn program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Life-Work Planning Center \u2014 $5,000 for the Women in Transition program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 MRCI \u2014 $5,000 for community-based day service programming.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Lasting Imprint \u2014 $4,000 for congenital heart defect kits.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Footnotes Trauma Foundation \u2014 $2,500 for care for veterans and abuse victims.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Living Earth Center \u2014 $2,500 for a youth gardening initiative.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Bethlehem Inn of Waseca \u2014 $2,000 to fund transitional housing for women.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Twin Valley Council Boy Scouts of America \u2014 $1,500 for handbooks for new Scouts.<\/p>\n
Consolidated\u2019s Community Fund grants are distributed on an annual basis through a grant application process administered by the Mankato Area Foundation.<\/p>\n
The fund has provided more than $6.7 million to nonprofits since founded in 1963.<\/p>\n
