ATOM Hospitality: Unveiling a Touch of Magic in Hospitality

Mankato, MN, July 28, 2023 — ATOM Hospitality is excited to announce its rebranding initiative, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Formerly known as Mankato Independent Originals (MIO), ATOM Hospitality is expanding its horizons beyond Mankato, MN, to embrace a broader audience while continuing to deliver exceptional service and unparalleled dining experiences.

The group, led by owners Christopher Person, Natasha O’Hara, and Carter Person, currently encompasses eight esteemed businesses: Number 4 Steakhouse, Dino’s Pizzeria, Flask, Tav on the Ave, 3rd Street Tavern, Konsbruck Hotel, Absolute Custom Catering, and Sky One Eleven Event Space. These establishments together employ a dedicated team of around 250 individuals.

Owner Chris Person would often proclaim, “It takes a touch of magic to do what we do.” This notion of enchantment became the cornerstone of their new brand identity, ATOM, an acronym derived from “A Touch of Magic.”

ATOM has upheld a rich history of serving the community. Founded on the principles of excellence, integrity, and unwavering dedication, the company has continuously evolved to meet the ever-changing demands of the hospitality industry. ATOM Hospitality takes pride in its ability to create lasting memories in the hearts of every guest they touch.

Key highlights of ATOM Hospitality’s history:

1. Brothers Chris and Pat Person grew up in the restaurant business, working at their
mother’s restaurant, Adrian’s (1975).
2. In 1988, the two brothers opened the local favorite Tav on the Ave, formerly known
as the Stone Toad, which became Mankato’s first restaurant to introduce Buffalo wings.
3. In 2005, the Persons joined forces with O’Hara (former Tav server) to launch Dino’s
New York Style Pizzeria. Their other well-known restaurants followed after.
4. Chris Person’s son Carter joined the partnership in 2016 with the opening of 3rd
Street Tavern. He is a fourth generation restaurateur in Mankato.
5. ATOM Hospitality has been recognized for its commitment to excellence, receiving
numerous accolades and awards for its outstanding food and service.

“Our team at ATOM Hospitality is thrilled to introduce this new chapter,” said Carter Person, Owner/Operator of ATOM Hospitality. “ATOM Hospitality will continue to provide the memorable dining experiences that Southern Minnesota has come to love over the last 35 years. Looking to the future, we look forward to sharing more news with you as ATOM Hospitality continues to evolve.”
