Greetings!

My name is Dr. Karthik Ghosh. On Monday, Jan. 6, I joined Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) as the new vice president for our Minnesota locations.

It is my distinct honor and privilege to take on this role.

A statewide vice president is a transition for the health system and supports our ongoing work to become an integrated health system with state synergies.

You may have worked closely with Dr. James Hebl in Southwest Minnesota or Dr. Robert Albright in Southeast Minnesota, and I want to acknowledge their extraordinary leadership. Their contributions as regional vice presidents have been instrumental in shaping MCHS into what it is today. I am deeply grateful for the time and insights they have graciously shared with me to ensure a smooth transition to my new role.

As I enthusiastically start this role, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share my excitement about our journey ahead. My family and I have been part of the Minnesota community for over 30 years. My husband, Amit Ghosh, M.D., is a physician at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and we have two wonderful adult children. During our leisure time, we enjoy taking long drives to explore the countryside and communities and engage in international travel.

Following medical training in India, I started a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1995. After moving to Mayo Clinic 23 years ago, I completed a Master of Science in Clinical Research through the Mayo Graduate School and served as an internal medicine physician in Consultative Medicine and Executive Health as well as a Breast Clinic physician. I also had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, including as medical director for the Breast Clinic, division chair for General Internal Medicine and the vice chair for the Personnel Committee for Mayo Clinic, Rochester.

I am a clinician at heart and deeply passionate about delivering exceptional care to our patients while supporting and empowering the incredible teams who make that care possible.

I look forward to attending community events and hope to meet with you and other community partners. Hearing your thoughts, ideas and experiences will be invaluable as me and my administrative partner, Travis Paul, and nursing partners, Lisa McConnell, R.N. and Dena Keilman, D.N.P., work together to continue serving our patients and our communities.
