Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. Names John Kind Interim Leader

MANKATO, MN (December 18, 2023) – Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. (GMG) today announces the appointment of John Kind as interim leader of the organization while the Board commences a search for the new president and CEO, following current President & CEO, Jessica Beyer, announcing in late October that she would be stepping away from the organization at the end of the year. Kind will begin his position on January 2, 2024.

“We’re pleased to name John Kind, a longtime, local leader in our community, as the interim leader of GMG,” said David Krause, GMG Board Chair. “John’s extensive experience leading a local non-profit along with his business experience positions him well to lead GMG during this interim period.”

Most recently, Kind served as the executive director of the Mankato Family YMCA from 2009 until he retired in July of this year. Prior to the YMCA, Kind served in leadership roles including controller, business group vice president, divisional president, and senior financial analyst at Taylor Corporation and its divisions for 23 years.

“I’m excited to serve GMG and its members in this interim role as we work to advance business development across our region,” said Kind. “The committed staff, board members and many volunteers are clearly passionate about ensuring our community and region is positioned for growth and longevity.”

The GMG Board formed a search committee, which is actively searching for the organization’s future leader. Beyer will remain in her role through the end of the year to facilitate a smooth transition for the organization.

Greater Mankato Growth, which has more than 900 members, serves the regional marketplace and is dedicated to advancing business development, regional livability, and advocacy.
