MANKATO, MN – Celebrate the grand re-opening of Thomas Park from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, at the park, 100 Thomas Park Court. Participate in self-guided tours to view the park’s new features and amenities, which include:
• Championship field with turf, lighting, dugouts and dedicated warm-up area.
• Four-field pinwheel, with restroom located nearby for easy access.
• Batting cages.
• Concessions building, which includes restrooms, storage rooms and utility rooms.
A brief program will be held at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, and staff will be available to answer questions. Parking is available in the lot in front of East High School, 2600 Hoffman Road, and in the lot next to the ballfields. View parking map.
Transportation will be provided at no cost using the Mankato Transit System: Route 6, Kato Flex and the Mobility Bus (for eligible individuals). To schedule a ride on Kato Flex or the Mobility Bus, call 311 or 507-387-8600.
City of Mankato staff engaged the community, Mankato Area Public Schools and the Mankato Area Girls Fastpitch Association to understand what was needed to improve the park and to best support the needs of frequent softball users. The Thomas Park reconstruction project approximately cost $6 million and was funded in part by sales tax.
