Celebrating National Women’s Small Business Month with ServiceMaster by Ayotte

Beth Ayotte’s Story

What inspired you to start your own janitorial business?

“My dad whispered in my ear as I slept – haha. No seriously, I was driving home from a job that gave me zero satisfaction. I was crying and praying, and a yellow bird hit my windshield. I drove to my dad’s office, and the rest is history. I wouldn’t change a thing!”

What did success look like when you started, and what does it look like now?

“It’s hard to say what success looks like. I am still trying to get to a place where we are successful. I know that every day we have to give our best. It may not be easy, and it may not look like we are doing it, but if we give our best and do better than the day before, we are doing it successfully.”

If you wrote a business book, what would the title be?

“A Balanced Guide.”

What are you most proud of as an entrepreneur and community leader?

“My TEAM – I did not do any of this alone. My TEAM has been with me from the beginning, and they deserve all the praise!”

How are you giving back to your community?

“We are involved in every chamber through our communities and we participate actively in their community events. Locally, we support all youth sports as well – hockey, soccer, baseball, softball, and golf.”

Beth recently supported the Clean Network by hosting a Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) in her Northfield office. When Beth Ayotte dreams about her business, ServiceMaster by Ayotte, she dreams big!

“I see us growing and being a leader on both Clean and Restore – an example of how we can run both businesses successfully,” said Beth.

ServiceMaster by Ayotte, in business since 1995, consists of two locations in Northfield and Kasota, Minn., and employs 71 people. Beth thrives on the constant change that comes with running her own business.

“It changes every day – with each ‘YES’ there is a new opportunity,” she said.
