City of Mankato Names Director of Engagement and Communications

The City of Mankato is pleased to welcome Paul David as the Director of Engagement and Communications. Mr. David comes to Mankato with 34 years of experience in communications.

“I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to serve and work with the residents of the Mankato area,” David stated upon beginning with the City on October 9. “Engagement is about listening first, then communicating. Not the other way around. I look forward to listening to and engaging with the various communities that make up this diverse and vibrant area of Minnesota.”

“As an organization, we look to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” Susan Arntz, City of Mankato Manager, shared. “If you look at Paul’s professional experience, he’s spent his career making a positive impact by working with communities, nonprofit organizations and businesses of all sizes to become better versions of themselves.”

David will have two direct reports, Jessica Welu and Lara Peterson. Moving forward, if members of the media have Welu or Peterson as contacts for editorial questions, please update with Paul David’s contact information located below.

Current media protocols with the Department of Public Safety will remain in place.

“In the coming weeks Paul will be assessing systems and procedures to identify how to best provide the media with the most interesting, relevant and timely information,” Arntz concluded.

“I am not interested in changing what’s working, but there’s always room for improvement,” David added. “Considering that I worked in television news for many years, I fully understand the needs and deadlines of local media. Getting accurate information as timely as possible given the situation is vitally important for every stakeholder.”

Please welcome Paul David to the City of Mankato.
