Have you ever seen the show “How It’s Made”? Have you found yourself wondering what it would be like to tour a manufacturing facility in person?

The public is invited to join us in touring manufacturers across the region that have opened their doors to showcase their facilities, products, machines, and the variety of in-demand and high paying employment opportunities.

This year’s tours will be taking place on Thursday, October 3 from 9am-3pm and Saturday, October 5 from 9am-1pm. Our region has been a leader in hosting quality manufacturing tours (we’ve been doing this so long that we own www.TourOfManufacturing.com) and we want to continue that by inviting your manufacturing, distribution, or trades business to host a tour that is open to the general public.

Generally depending on capacity, manufacturers will host tours hourly, every 30 minutes, or with guided small group tours that leave on a rolling basis. The South Central Workforce Council and many of our local school districts work hard to make sure that students attend the Thursday tours. Historically, some manufacturers have used the Saturday tour as an opportunity to host a “family day” for their employees to invite their significant others and children to see what they do for a living.

The deadline to host a tour has been extended to August 30. The $500 cost to participate goes to the Tour of Manufacturing committee in order to advertise the tour to the public and provide support for bussing students when needed

All events are open to the public unless noted otherwise. Participants in the tour can show up at companies at any time during the tour timeframe; however, it is recommended to check tour schedules in the magazine to determine the best arrival time. Specific details regarding tour schedules are included in the Tour of Manufacturing Magazine.
