On Wednesday, Nov. 7el (8:30 – 10:00 am) the Mankato Chapter of One Million Cups will be celebrating its one year anniversary. This is a free event focused on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
About 1 Million Cups
Based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012—a free program designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs around the country. Through the power of volunteers, 1 Million Cups has grown to more than 180 communities. As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups works with entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and resources to break down barriers that stand in the way of starting and growing their businesses.
This a partnership of Greater Mankato Growth, the Small Business Development Center, SCORE, Minnesota State University, Mankato, The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and MN Dept. of Employment and Economic Development…and many more.
Monthly, 1 Million Cups provides an opportunity for startup companies to present their business (after they complete a series of meetings with a business coach) and have a discussion with existing professionals focused on their success. The format is like Shark Tank, but with Minnesota Nice Sharks
This program has drawn attention to our marketplace from several venture capital firms, is supported by local successful entrepreneurs, and has served as a gateway to resources for startup businesses. By attending the one year anniversary of 1 Million Cups you will help continue the culture of success and the creation of innovation in our community. Innovation has always been here, but we have needed to do a better job of promoting it.
