Government agencies in the Greater Mankato area are ramping up for one of the largest road construction seasons in recent history in 2018. To help the public prepare, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will host Mankato’s first ever multiagency construction showcase on Wednesday, February 21 from 4 – 6 pm at MnDOT District 7 Headquarters, 2151 Bassett Drive, Mankato.  The public is encouraged to stop by and plan for construction in 2018 on major corridors including Highways 14, 22 and 169.

Attendees can speak with staff from MnDOT, the cities of Mankato and North Mankato, and Blue Earth County to learn about 2018 construction in the area and plan ahead for summer travel and customer access to local businesses. No formal presentation is planned; however, attendees are welcome to stop by anytime and light refreshments will be provided.

In addition to improving sections of Highways 14, 22, and 169 around the Mankato area, MnDOT will partner with Blue Earth County to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 22 and County Road 90, and partner with the cities of Mankato and North Mankato to upgrade the levee on Highway 169 just north of the Highway 14 interchange.

Other regional projects highlighted at the showcase include the multi-year Highway 14/15 New Ulm Gateway project, a large resurfacing project on Highway 60 in Watonwan County and more work on Blue Earth County roads.

Drivers can expect lane restrictions, traffic delays, ramp closures, and detours during summer construction. MnDOT will be working with local businesses to maintain access and minimize construction impacts.
