The Greater Mankato Business Awards & Hall of Fame, a premier business event, is a time where Greater Mankato Growth, Visit Mankato, City Center Partnership, and GreenSeam honor outstanding businesses, professionals, and organizations within the Greater Mankato community.

Greater Mankato Growth introduced three new award categories: Talent Innovation, Development Project of the Year, and Coolest Thing Made in Greater Mankato.

Join us in the Grand Hall at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center on Thursday, November 7, and learn more about the three finalists for the brand-new-this-year award, The Coolest Thing Made in Mankato! As an event attendee, you’ll have an opportunity to cast your vote and decide on the winner in this category!

The winners of the other two new award categories, Talent Innovation and Development Project of the Year, will be revealed at the event. Check out all of this year’s honorees and finalists below.

Greater Mankato Growth Awards

The Hall of Fame award recognizes distinguished businesses or organizations which have made significant contributions to our vibrant community and showcases their commitment to economic development and the well-being of their employees. This award celebrates businesses or organizations that have been established for at least ten (10) years.

A nominee for this award is recognized for their impact on the local economy through the creation of quality jobs and development opportunities. A hallmark of the nominated business or organization is their ethical leadership, community engagement, active participation in Greater Mankato Growth (chamber of commerce) activities, as well as commitment to environmental stewardship and private enterprise.

To be considered for this honor, a business or organization must exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship, demonstrate the ability to take calculated risks, and successfully manage a thriving enterprise in the region. The Hall of Fame award not only highlights the achievements of the nominees, but serves as an inspiration for future generations of business leaders committed to fostering community growth and economic vitality.

A nominee for this award must be a Greater Mankato Growth member in good standing at Engaged or higher level.

The Business Legacy award celebrates private sector businesses previously inducted into the Business Hall of Fame. This award honors businesses or organizations that continue to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to being an employer of choice, fostering a positive workplace culture, and prioritizing employee growth and development. Additionally, the nominee must exhibit strong community support through initiatives that give back to and engage with the local population, reinforcing the nominee’s role as a responsible corporate citizen.

A nominee for this award must be a Greater Mankato Growth member in good standing at Engaged or higher level.

Businesses are encouraged to self-nominate.

New in 2024, the Coolest Thing Made in Greater Mankato award honors the contributions of businesses that bring attention to our region by producing innovative and unique physical or digital goods or services.

A nominee for this award must be a Greater Mankato Growth member in good standing at Engaged or higher level.

Businesses are encouraged to self-nominate.

Element of Surprise: Three (3) finalists will be selected ahead of time and invited to set up a display the event, offering an opportunity to attendees to get acquainted with the product/display and cast their vote to determine the winner. The winner will be announced at Business Awards & Hall of Fame on November 7, 2024.

Award finalists will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • The product must be a physical or digital good or service, created and produced in the Greater Mankato region.
  • The product must be actively produced and marketed for sale.
  • Consideration will be based on the products uniqueness, level of innovation, national and/or international significance, and economic impact from both inside and outside of the region.

New in 2024, the Development Project of the Year award recognizes a new development or redevelopment project that elevates the Greater Mankato regional marketplace through its regional economic impact or innovative architecture and design, which greatly improve the aesthetics of the area where this project is located.

Nominations can come from any significant contributor to the project, that is a Greater Mankato Growth member in good standing at Engaged or higher level. Contributors may include the developer, anchor tenant, design firm, architect, construction firm, or realtor. A joint nomination among multiple member organizations involved in the project would result in a joint award, should that project be chosen as the winner. Nominations for both public or private developments will be considered.

Businesses are encouraged to self-nominate.

Element of Surprise: Three (3) finalists will be selected ahead of time, and the winner will be announced at Business Awards & Hall of Fame on November 7, 2024.

Award finalists will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Projects must have a completion date between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024.
  • Projects must be located in Greater Mankato.
  • Projects must be either new or a redevelopment.

New in 2024, the Talent Innovation award will honor the success of a business or organization leading the way in talent attraction and retention through reducing barriers to work for traditionally overlooked talent pools, providing innovative training to employees, creating opportunities for high school and college students, modifying work schedules, hiring from outside the region, or taking other actions that serve as an industry best practice to grow and develop our region’s labor force.

A nominee for this award must be a Greater Mankato Growth member in good standing at Engaged or higher level.

Businesses are encouraged to self-nominate.

Visit Mankato Awards

The Bring It Home award recognizes an individual, group, or organization that works alongside Visit Mankato to bring a significant event to Greater Mankato. A nominee does not have to be a representative of a hospitality business; they can be any person or group that meets the criteria outlined below.

The winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Event generated significant economic impact in the Greater Mankato area.
  • Event is new or has shown consistent growth and/or innovation since its beginnings, and the nominee has not been a recipient of the Bring It Home award in the past five (5) years.
  • Event must have occurred within the last 12 months.

The Hospitality award recognizes an individual, group, or organization that has gone above and beyond to provide outstanding hospitality to the visitors of Greater Mankato or has helped promote Greater Mankato as a great destination to visit. A nominee does not have to be a representative of a hospitality business; they can be any person or group that meets the criteria outlined below.

The winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Significance of ongoing outstanding hospitality provided to visitors.
  • Significance of efforts to promote Greater Mankato as a great visitor destination (on their own or in partnership with Visit Mankato).

City Center Partnership Awards

The CityDesign award recognizes new construction or renovation projects that contribute to the economic vitality of the City Center. This project could be the result of significant investment to develop a new building or redevelop an existing property to improve its use.

Projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Enhancement: How has this project enhanced the City Center?
  • Quality: What is the quality of the project?
  • Vitality: How does this project expand the vitality of the City Center?
  • Creativity: Highlight interesting, creative, and/or original parts of this project.
  • Diversity: How does this project promote diversity and inclusion in the City Center?

GreenSeam Awards

The Seamed in Success award Honors an outstanding business, organization, community, or individual who has made a large impact and added value to the community and region. This award recognizes those who have highlighted the importance of agriculture, with an emphasis on rural vitality building upon our agricultural roots.

The winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the betterment of human endeavors and life in the GreenSeam region through the creation of quality jobs and employee development opportunities.
  • Demonstration of personal and business ethical qualities, including dedication to family, community, the environment, and private enterprise.
  • Demonstration of qualities of entrepreneurship by assuming the risk of organizing, developing, and managing a successful business enterprise in the GreenSeam region.
  • Contribution to the betterment of quality of life, business environment, as well as economic and agricultural vitality in the GreenSeam region.
  • Demonstration of commitment to the community through service, volunteerism, and/or partnership.

  • Contribution to the betterment of human endeavors and life in the GreenSeam region through the creation of quality jobs and employee development opportunities.
