Mankato, MN – Thursday, May 22, 2025 — Volk Investments Company, LLC is proud to announce the acquisition of a major distribution center in Mankato, Minnesota. The newly acquired site—formerly known as Cotter and Company, and most recently the True Value Distribution Center—is a 300,000+ square foot facility situated on over 60 acres of land at the junction of Third Avenue and Highway 14, Mankato, MN.

This strategic real estate investment, led by Troy Volk, Chief Manager of Volk Investments Company, LLC and CEO of Volk Transfer, reflects the continued advancement of his real estate portfolio and reinforces Volk’s long-term commitment to creating sustainable value and supporting the evolving demands of the logistics and transportation industry.

“This acquisition represents an exciting new chapter for both Volk Investments and Volk Transfer,” said Troy Volk, Chief Manager of Volk Investments Company, LLC and CEO of Volk Transfer. “It not only advances our real estate portfolio but also supports our long-term vision for scalable growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced service capabilities across the supply chain.”

This newly acquired facility will become the official Volk Transfer, Inc. U.S. Headquarters and Distribution Center, marking a pivotal step in Volk’s national growth strategy. Centralizing our operations at this expansive location will enhance our efficiency, expand our service capabilities, and solidify our position as a leader in end-to-end supply chain solutions for our customers, while also providing our employees with a more streamlined, collaborative, and supportive work environment designed for growth and success. With the addition of the new facility, Volk Transfer, Inc. will manage over 500,000 square feet of warehouse space, while Volk Investments Company, LLC will now own over 1,000,000 square feet of commercial real estate within its portfolio.

The facility features short-term and long-term storage with standard and flow racking, and density storage enabling efficient pick, pack, and ship operations. A built-in conveyor loop system will enhance productivity by streamlining sorting, organizing, and palletizing processes. These capabilities support full-service fulfillment and distribution operations, ensuring fast, accurate order processing and timely delivery to customers.

The new property offers extensive outdoor storage capabilities, ideal for oversized freight, containers, equipment, and seasonal inventory. This added space allows Volk to deliver even more customized, efficient, and secure logistics solutions for our partners.

The facility will also achieve Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification ensuring it meets the highest standards for food safety, quality, and regulatory warehouse requirements. Additionally, it will be equipped with RFID scanning technology, allowing for enhanced product visibility, real-time inventory tracking, and improved operational efficiency—further expanding Volk’s ability to serve customers in food-grade and high-sensitivity industries.

These enhancements will fall under our Lean Organized initiative—Volk’s commitment to operational excellence through streamlined processes, intelligent design, and continuous improvement. By integrating advanced technologies, regulatory compliance, and efficient storage solutions, we’re reinforcing our promise to deliver smarter, faster, and more reliable service to our customers.

The expansive property not only offers significant operational capacity but also positions Volk Transfer for continued innovation and agility in serving customers across the Midwest and beyond. As a family-owned and core values-driven company, Volk remains committed to sustainable growth rooted in professionalism, trustworthiness, dedication, and a strong sense of urgency.

“This expansion marks a pivotal moment for Volk Transfer as we continue to grow and evolve alongside our customers’ needs,” said David Tiede, President of Volk Transfer. “Having a centralized headquarters and distribution center enhances our ability to deliver efficient, integrated logistics solutions while positioning us for long-term success.”

Further updates on the facility’s development and integration into Volk Transfer’s offerings will be shared in the coming weeks. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

About Volk Transfer
Volk Transfer is a third-generation, family-owned transportation, logistics, and warehousing company with deep roots in southern Minnesota and a rapidly growing national footprint. Founded in 1948 by Frank Volk with just one tractor, the company quickly established its first facility and began a legacy of dependable service, hard work, and innovation.

In 1974, Richard “Rick” Volk became President, carrying forward the family tradition until his untimely passing in March 1993. His wife, Carol Volk, stepped in and led the company through a period of transition before their son, Troy R. Volk, assumed leadership in 1997. Today, Troy serves as the Owner and CEO, continuing to build on the strong foundation laid by previous generations. Volk appointed David Tiede, President of Volk Transfer in March 2024.

For over 75 years, Volk Transfer has steadily expanded its capabilities and reach. Since 2011, the company has operated from its main terminal at 2205 7th Avenue in Mankato, which features a 30,000-square-foot warehouse, including a 20,000-square-foot expansion added in 2012 to support customer demand.

Now a comprehensive Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider, Volk offers end-to-end supply chain solutions—including regional, national, and global services. The company operates with over 165 pieces of equipment, three offsite warehouse facilities, and seven specialized divisions: Logistic, Truckload, Less-Than-Truckload, Expedited Services, Temp Controlled, Warehouse & Storage, Distribution & Fulfillment.

In addition to its primary locations, Volk Transfer operates an 84,000-square-foot warehouse in North Mankato, further supported by an adjacent 60,000-square-foot facility, significantly expanding their managed space. With the recent acquisition of a 300,000-square-foot distribution center on 60+ acres, Volk will now manage over 500,000 square feet of warehouse and distribution space.

Through its growth, Volk remains grounded in its core values: Sense of Urgency, Dedication, Professionalism, and Trustworthiness—values that shape the way it serves customers and builds lasting partnerships.
