Mankato and North Mankato have been designated a “Bronze” Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, Washington, D.C.Visitors can drive through the enclosed 330 acres of the Minneopa State Park to catch a glimpse at a herd of bison, which have genetics descending from the type of bison Lewis and Clark gazed upon in the 1830s.Minneopa State Park is famous for its waterfalls which are some of the largest in the state. The park has been called one of the best places to see waterfalls within a short drive from Minneapolis.Nestled between the Minnesota and Blue Earth Rivers, Sibley Park is one of the oldest parks in Greater Mankato and is recognized as having one of the coolest playgrounds in the state by NewsCastic.

Mankato Marathon

October 15 - 16, 2016

The Mankato Marathon is the Midwest’s boldest race, showcasing a dynamic course and determined runners. This exceptional course features a vast countryside run at the beginning and culminates in the beautiful, yet challenging Minnesota River Valley with Cheer Zones to help you stay motivated.

There’s a race for every runner—a full marathon, relay, half, 10K, 5K, KidsK, Toddler Trot and Diaper Dash. A host of accompanying weekend activities abounds for the whole family. The Mankato Marathon is a certified course, making it a Boston Marathon qualifier.

CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour

May 14, 2016 - April 8, 2017

See and enjoy art out in the open on the CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour. In this annual year long tour, you’ll find twenty-seven sculptures by artists from around the world in mediums ranging from re-purposed vehicular traffic signs to bronze throughout City Center Mankato.
