Internships are a great way for companies to cultivate new talent, provide opportunities for recruitment, and reduce the cost of doing business. The State of Minnesota offers programs that provide funds to businesses so they can hire interns. The two primary programs are the Scitechsperience Internship Program and the Greater Minnesota Internship Tax Credit.

Scitechsperience Internship Program
SciTechsperience creates the opportunity for Minnesota businesses to work with college STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) students to develop solutions for real world challenges. SciTechsperience provides a low-cost solution for small and medium-sized companies that otherwise may not have access to qualified interns. Participating companies receive matching funds of 50 percent of the intern’s wages up to $2,500. 181 matching grants remain between now and August 30, 2016 and are available on a first come, first hire basis. Greater Minnesota Internship Tax Credit
The Greater Minnesota Internship Tax Credit Program provides a tax credit to eligible employers who employ eligible student interns at locations in greater Minnesota.
