Remember that abandoned building, old gas station, junk yard or other potentially contaminated property?  Do you look at these sites and wonder where funding could come from to make this a vital contribution to your community? Is there speculation that the sites may have contamination and considered a brownfield or are the buildings just obsolete?

From 9 am to 12 pm on Thursday, September 22, the City of Mankato will host a brownfield workshop at the Intergovernmental Center in Mankato.  Speakers will provide information about useful resources to assist with site redevelopment.  Being aware of these resources can help to avoid costly issues during redevelopment projects.

This workshop is designed to help gain a better understanding of what a Brownfield is, learn how Brownfield revitalization can be a part of your community’s economic development strategy, and hear from state and national leaders on funding and resources available to your community.

• Not-for-profit economic and community development organizations
• Anyone interested in learning about brownfields or about financial resources for local redevelopment. All are welcome, but focus will be on information for communities in Minnesota.
