The City of Mankato is seeking citizens to serve on the Planning Commission. This is an excellent opportunity for a member of our business community to get involved in the community. City of Mankato Press Release:

Get involved in local government, and apply online to serve on Mankato’s planning commission. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit applications by Friday, May 13; however, applications are accepted anytime.

The planning commission makes recommendations to the Mankato City Council regarding proposed planning and zoning requests. This includes variances from the city code conditional use permits, and rezoning applications. Other responsibilities include subdivision review, review of proposed ordinance changes and assisting in updating the comprehensive plan.

Volunteers are appointed to serve a term of three years. Citizen input is important and helpful when making city decisions.
