‘National Fentanyl Poisoning and Substance Overdose Awareness and Prevention Day’ Event

August 20, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Free

This event is hosted by the Travis Gustavson family. This day was established by families of fentanyl loss, in remembrance of the loved ones who lost their lives to illicit fentanyl poisoning and substance overdose, and to acknowledge the devastation this drug epidemic has brought to hundreds of thousands of affected family members and friends. This epidemic is killing a whole generation, and leaving thousands of families and friends devastated by grief and shock. This is a coordinated day, Nation-wide for our communities to join the families of loss to share awareness, education, and understanding of this deadly epidemic, and what it is doing to our community. It is also a time to share the services available in our communities, where the ones who suffer from substance misuse and their families can find help. It is a day to offer hope and comfort, a day to address stigma and how it is stopping people who need help from reaching out, to show that substance misuse and disorder is a disease, not a choice.
