Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. Foundation Awarded an additional $750,000 in DEED Funds to Support Development & Redevelopment in Regional Corridors

Mankato, MN, February 27, 2025 – The Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. (GMG, Inc.) Foundation has been awarded an additional $750,000 through the Department of Employment & Economic Development (DEED) Main Street Economic Revitalization Program (MSERP). This award follows a previous award of $2 million made available in 2022. The Round 1 funding supported 34 projects in Greater Mankato with grants of up to 30% of the construction cost. These funds have already leveraged over $27 million in additional private capital investment and are anticipated to leverage a further $29 million as projects are completed.

GMG, Inc. foundation will serve as the fiscal host of these funds which will be subgranted to businesses via a competitive application process within three commercial corridors viewable here: MSERP – Corridor Boundaries. New to this round, Madison Lake businesses are now included in the corridor boundaries.

GMG will be working with Region Nine Development Commission (RNDC) as they help support the selection process for award decisions. The Small Business Development Center will provide technical assistance to applicants and the Blue Earth County Library will provide digital application support for applicants who need assistance with the online application submission process. Additionally, the Cities of Mankato, North Mankato, Saint Peter, Eagle Lake, Lake Crystal, Madison Lake, Nicollet, and Courtland, Blue Earth County, Nicollet County, and the St. Peter Chamber of Commerce will assist with outreach and marketing support.
