Mankato, Minn. (March 29, 2022) — Visit Mankato has unveiled the new courses for the 13th annual Mankato Marathon scheduled to take place this fall on October 14 and 15. The Mankato Marathon is known as a bold race in an exceptional place, and that comes with a scenic backdrop lined with significant course support and cheering spectators at various locations along the route.
“As the Mankato Marathon team started planning this year’s event, we listened to our runners’ comments and suggestions as we made changes to the course. We hope the changes will add to the runner’s experience and showcase the beauty of Mankato’s trails and the Minnesota River Valley,” said Joy Leafblad, Sports & Special Events Director for Visit Mankato.
The courses will highlight Greater Mankato’s assets along the Minnesota River Valley by taking runners through historic Sibley Park, welcoming neighborhoods, scenic trails and downtown views. The start line will look familiar to participants of the 2021 Mankato Marathon, taking place near the intersection of Poplar and B Streets. It is also in close proximity to where runners will cross the finish line and enjoy the Post Race Party festivities on Front Street.
The Mankato Marathon’s full and half marathon courses are USATF certified, making the Mankato Marathon one of the last races in Minnesota for runners that are hoping to quality for the Boston Marathon in April 2023.
